Feline Friday – #79 – the bigger the smaller

freddie and frankie

There are so many cat rules, sometimes it’s hard to keep up… especially as some of them change with a whim.

But one rule that seems to remain constant is the bigger the cat, the smaller the space necessary to be comfortable. And vice versa.

My 16-pound (7.3 kg) cat Freddie scrunches himself up into a small box on my living room table. You’ll find him there early afternoon to evening.

My smaller cat, Frankie, weighing in at 11 lbs (5 kg) needs a whole sofa (actually the loveseat) to himself.

It seems to be an equitable arrangement. Freddie does his yoga moves to fit in the box.

While Frankie has sweet dreams buried in the pillows.

  1. Good observation. There must be some secret about boxes which makes the small ones attractive, that we humans do not understand. Why do cats go into those contortions to fit inside?

    • Like many other feline mysteries it’s not for us to know. Frankie once stuck his nose in a box that was smaller than his head and chased (pushed) it around the floor until he got tired… have no idea what he was trying to achieve there!

  5. Wish I could sleep like a cat. They always look so comfortable in their contortions!

  6. I need to take Yoga lessons from Freddie!

  7. I’m always so disappointed by my own flexibility when observing cats. Frankie’s yoga pose looks impossibly uncomfortable, but he seems to love it. 😸

Happy New Year RMW! Wishing you, Frankie, and Freddie the best of 2018.
