Feline Friday – #44 – factory default

Our computer crashed yesterday… into the pit of hell. We have no idea how this happened. It would not boot up. Our human tried everything she could think of… but after hours of frustration she finally decided there was no choice but to do a recovery to the factory default.

We know she had backup software that told her it was indeed backing up. But when she needed it, it was nowhere to be found.

Hah! When she needs us, we are there for her. That’s what she gets for depending on technology. There’s nothing like a furry friend for dependability.

This meant re-installing EVERYTHING including Windows 10.

Well, Frankie and I did everything we could to hinder… no, wrong word, I mean help her… get the computer back up.

Frankie hit the keyboard to see if that would do the trick while I, Freddie, checked the monitor.

Things got so bad at one point we heard our human blaming us for clogging the hard drive with cat hair. As if…!!!

“Cats and computers do not belong together!” we heard her screaming. What does that even mean?

But with our assistance by the evening the computer was up and running again… just purring along like us. Now she has the laborious task of installing all her millions of programs.

But as always, no fear, we are here with a helping paw!

(Oh, in case you were concerned, she always backs up her photos and working files to external drives so none of that was lost.)

I am an explorer and creative person. I've had many jobs, careers and interests... everything in life and the universe fascinates me. Born in Brighton, England, I've lived my entire adult life in Los Angeles. Recently I rediscovered photography and I am busy learning everything I can about it. It's a great excuse for getting outside, wandering around and stopping to look at things.

  4. I know the feeling and how frustrating it is … We were almost fellow sufferers or in a way parteners in misfortune … I had no Internet connection after a nasty hail/rain storm,in fact,I was “locked” … in your brilliant Library post lol.But what great furry-helpers you had to support you,Roslyn.Skillful their paws, they did all the “donkey work” for you;their photos are so much fun!
PS:I’ve described my misfortune in your library post …

  5. Dear Doda: I saw your comment in my library post…. thank you! After the computer was back up and running (thanks to the felines) I couldn’t get into my email. I was frustrated. Apparently Yahoo email was down across the country… so all I could was wait patiently until it came back up again. There are worse things than not having internet but at the time it is upsetting… what did I do before email?

  6. Thank God I was locked there, there was so much to enjoy, the page was frozen, put my laptop to “sleep” and never lost the page, the library was open twenty-four hours a day until I was reconnected to the Internet.

Old proverbs are wise,it never rains but it pours and then came the yahoo problems.I don’t know what’s wrong but I face a very annoying problem as when I log in to read my emails, the page turns black, black, like Erebus lol and I have to restart it,let alone that each email takes ages to appear. The funny thing is that it happens certain hours during the day,and it is the only site I’ve this problem.Something must be wrong with yahoo worldwide, other people have mentioned plenty of malfunctions.Sigh …
Thank you for reading dear Roslyn.

    • I never know if it’s my provider AT&T or yahoo or my computer or the neighborhood squirrels chewing on the cables! Always something!

  7. That is funny (the way you described) but I am sure it was very frustrated. I always have a fear that the computer will not boot. It did happen a few times for me too.
