Feline Friday – #7 – Poem for Captain Fitzbattleaxe

fitz and foothill

I wrote this poem in the mid to late 1980s. It was an ode to my beautiful silver tabby cat, Fitzbo, who I wrote about in a previous Feline Friday blog post.  If you read that post you will recognize the photo!

Her full name was Captain Fitzbattleaxe (First Life Guards) a character in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Utopia operetta. Sorry about the small print, it was originally posted to an old website as a gif file.Fitzbattleaxe poem

  2. Purrfect poem for your beloved Fitzie, Ros. Dig the cat in the cat tuna box, too. 🙂

  3. That’s so lovely, Roslyn, and a really cute photo of Fitzbo. I had a lovely Tabby called Joey. He was the most affectionate cat imaginable. 🙂

    • Grey tabbies seem to be especially loving…. one of my current cats is a grey tabby/tuxedo (white underbelly and legs) and I think the tabby part of him is what makes him SO affectionate!

  4. I love Tabbies too. My late beloved Stilgar was a very handsome Tabby.
