Every Christmas is a white one

white christmas

Regardless of the weather I always have a White Christmas!

Every year around the holidays I watch this movie half a dozen times or more. It never gets old for me.

I’m streaming it on Netflix right now as I write this. I also own the DVD.

Danny Kaye and Vera-Ellen have just announced their fake engagement.

I can’t get over Vera-Ellen’s tiny tiny waist.

The dance numbers with Danny Kaye blow me away. He was up there with Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. Always amazed me that these guys could dance and hold a tune too.

And Rosemary Clooney. What a voice. Love that dance number with George Chakiris. I heard that got him his role in West Side Story.

Don’t want to leave out Bing Crosby. “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas.” Nobody can sing it like him.

Mary Wickes, the greatest character actor of all time, was perfect for the role of the wise-cracking housekeeper.

Now Dean Jagger, in his full general’s uniform, is entering the banquet room… and walking the inspection line. “I never saw anything look so wonderful in my whole life.” That could be said about the movie.

The finale. It’s finally snowing in Vermont. Everybody singing White Christmas.

May all your Christmases be white…. even if it’s 80 degrees and the sun is beating down on you!

I am an explorer and creative person. I've had many jobs, careers and interests... everything in life and the universe fascinates me. Born in Brighton, England, I've lived my entire adult life in Los Angeles, California. A few years ago I rediscovered photography which is a great excuse to get outside and look. I'm also in the process of re-writing some of my unpublished short stories and possibly a novel. .

  1. Oh how I love this movie too! After all of these years of watching, I still get the chills at the end. 🙂

  2. I love this movie. It’s our annual “Christmas movie treat!” I too was so fascinated with Vera-Ellen’s tiny waist (and skinny legs) that I googled her only to find that she had an eating disorder. (Some things should never be googled!) We haven’t watched it yet but it’s on the list for the next week.

  6. “White Christmas” is top on my list too. I’m a Rosemary Clooney kind of guy myself. Maybe someone should develop a personality test based on whether you are attracked to Clooney, Verra-Ellen, Kaye, or Crosby… or the showgirls 🙂
