Utility boxes in East LA turned into artwork

utility boxes in east LA

Last year I went on a bus tour of murals in East LA. Since then I’ve been wondering if it would be possible to do a similar tour on foot.

On Sunday I met up with four intrepid friends as we explored the East part of LA across the river. I’ll be showing you some of the murals on a later post.

In the meantime, we also discovered these delightfully decorated utility boxes which are part of a $12 million Eastside Access Project to make East LA safer and cleaner.

I am an explorer and creative person. I've had many jobs, careers and interests... everything in life and the universe fascinates me. Born in Brighton, England, I've lived my entire adult life in Los Angeles, California. A few years ago I rediscovered photography which is a great excuse to get outside and look. I'm also in the process of re-writing some of my unpublished short stories and possibly a novel. .

  1. Nice!

  2. These are so cool! I especially like the 6th and 7th picture.

  3. Thanks Jackie… those are the cutest!

  4. This is very creative, I like your pictures, very much. I’m pretty sure it was even nicer to see the boxes with the naked eye instead of pictures, there’s something the best camera in the world can’t take or capture, don’t ya agree? 🙂

    • Thanks, Ahmed. Yes, I agree. This is why it is so important to get off the sofa and out the door… nothing can compare with first hand experience!

  5. The last one is my favorite 🙂
