I have been a Star Trek fan since day one. Through the decades I have loved all the variations and spinoffs of the show, some less than others.
One glorious moment of my life that I will never forget was sitting in Captain Kirk’s chair on the bridge of the Enterprise at Paramount Studios. I probably said something really original like, “Warp speed ahead, Mr. Sulu!”
Since the very first episode of the original series I have had a big crush on Mr. Spock. Not Leonard Nimoy, but the character he played. This has carried over to the “new” Mr. Spock on the latest reboot of the franchise.
So, a couple of weeks ago on one of my walks around the neighborhood I noticed these images stenciled on the sidewalk. Could it be? Yes, Mr. Spock himself.
And with the 2013 version of Star Trek being released in the US in just a couple of days (I can hardly contain my excitement at the thought of seeing Mr. Spock in 3D!) I thought I should share my find…
This stencil looks more like Zachary Quinto than Leonard Nimoy so I will go with that.
Maybe this isn’t even intended to be that famous Vulcan. Maybe it’s some random portrait, and to another passerby it would have an entirely different connotation.
But as far as I am concerned, Mr. Spock is lying on the curb in Culver City.
