Don’t leave home without the point & shoot

When I bought my new Canon DSLR at the end of last year I actually felt bad… like I was abandoning my old love, my trusty Olympus SP-350 point & shoot camera, for a newer, younger model. Well, this is Los Angeles, the land of Hollywood, where that kind of thing happens all the time. It was time to get over it and move on.

But I am glad to report this story has a happier ending.

As my Canon is about three times the size of the Olympus it is not so easy to throw it in my bag as I am running out the door. And often, when I am sure I won’t be needing the services of a camera, I think, oh you never know… I’ll just take the Olympus.

Today was one of those days. I had to rise from my sickbed to run some errands and put gas in the car. As the gasoline was pumping into the tank I happened to look up and was amazed at what I saw.

Ah, I wish I had my camera with me…. oh, yeah… I have the p&s in my bag. So I opened the car door, wrangled the camera out of the tote bag and started snapping away.

I am not a tree person and don’t have a clue what kind of blossoms these are…. I might take a stab at cherry but I am probably far off. But who cares? They don’t need a name. They are welcoming in spring in February.

I wonder how many people at the gas station or driving down the street even saw them. I am sure the other patrons waiting in line while I pranced around with my camera thought I was quite mad. Well, I am, and proud of it!

Thank you, Mother Nature for providing a wonderful moment at the gas station.
